Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiya, former advisor to the caretaker government and a key figure in the July uprising, has taken a step forward to contest the 13th National Parliamentary election in Dhaka-10 by collecting his nomination form on Monday at the Dhaka University Thana election office.

Sajib Bhuiya played a key role in coordinating the anti-discrimination student movement during the July uprising and later served as an advisor to the caretaker government. Prior to the election announcement, he resigned from the advisory council on 11 December to participate in the polls.

Speaking to journalists after collecting the form, he said that he hopes to use his experience as an advisor to serve the public. He also expressed concern about his personal security, referring to the killing of fellow uprising leader Sharif Osman Hadi, highlighting that unresolved threats remain a danger to all candidates. He urged the government to ensure free movement and a safe environment for campaigning.

The BNP has nominated Sheikh Robiul Alam, while Jamaat-e-Islami has chosen lawyer Jasim Uddin Sarkar. The National Citizens Party (NCP) has not officially declared a candidate but there is speculation around Sajib Bhuiya.
