In Raypur Upazila, Laxmipur, allegations have emerged that a local BNP leader and others forcibly occupied land and built a house during the night. The affected family expressed fear over the incident.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday (20 December) in Miarhat area of South Charbanshi Union along the banks of the Meghna River. The land, approximately six acres, was purchased seven months ago from expatriate Mainuddin for BDT 62 lakh. Four shops had been constructed and rented out, and preparations for building construction were underway when the accused, following instructions from Union BNP General Secretary Aminul Islam Badsha Gazi, forcibly occupied the land and erected a tin house. Attempts to resist were met with threats.

When the family called the emergency number 999, police from Hajimara outpost intervened to halt the work and advised both parties to go to the police station. On Sunday night, the family filed a written complaint against Aminul Islam Badsha Gazi and others, including Alauddin Gazi, Mukbul Chowkidar, Gofur, Zakir Chowkidar, Sohel, Gofur Molla, and Ratan Gazi.

Aminul Islam Badsha Gazi denied the allegations, claiming they were politically motivated. The Hajimara outpost SI Abdur Rahim confirmed that the work was stopped and the parties were instructed to present proper documents at the station. Raypur police OC Md. Shaheen Mia stated that legal action would be taken following investigation. The complainant’s family also alleged receiving death threats on social media, adding further concern.
