The two-day-long tension and uncertainty at Mashalgaon border in Haripur upazila of Thakurgaon has ended. The 11 people who were staying at the border zero line were finally taken back into Indian territory by the Border Security Force (BSF). The group included women, men, children, and one pregnant woman.

The information was confirmed on Monday morning by Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Moin Hasan, commander of Dinajpur Battalion (42 BGB).

According to BGB and local sources, on Friday night, an attempt was made to push these 11 people into Bangladesh through the Mashalgaon border. However, due to strict vigilance by BGB, they could not enter Bangladesh and remained stranded on the zero line.

Due to staying under open sky for days, a humanitarian crisis emerged, especially with children and a pregnant woman involved, raising concerns among locals.

BGB increased surveillance and intensified patrols in the border area. They also maintained a strict position against any illegal entry attempts.

Officials stated that after strong protest and diplomatic engagement, BSF eventually returned the 11 individuals to India on Sunday night, restoring normalcy at the border.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Moin Hasan said no one is currently present on the zero line and the situation is fully normal. However, patrol and surveillance have been strengthened to prevent such incidents in the future.
