RAB-14 conducted multiple separate anti-drug operations in Madhupur, Tangail, recovering a large quantity of narcotics. During the operations, 15 kg of cannabis, 600 ampoules of narcotic buprenorphine injections, and 35 bottles of foreign liquor were seized. At the same time, five inter-district drug traders were arrested.

RAB-14 stated that these operations were conducted on June 6 as part of the government’s “zero tolerance” policy against drugs. Members of RAB-14’s CPC-3, Tangail camp participated in the operations.

In the first operation, three individuals were arrested after searching a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in the Jolchhottor (25 Mile) Bazar area in the evening. Based on their information, 15 kg of cannabis hidden inside a bag was recovered. Several mobile phones and cash were also seized.

In the second operation, one passenger was arrested from a bus in the same area. A bag carried by him contained 600 ampoules of buprenorphine injections, along with a mobile phone and cash.

In another operation at night near the Madhupur police station bridge area, a drug trader was arrested from a bus with 35 bottles of foreign liquor. A mobile phone was also seized.

RAB’s initial investigation suggests that the arrested individuals had long been involved in collecting drugs from border areas and distributing them across Tangail and other districts. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is around one crore taka.

The arrested individuals, along with the seized evidence, have been handed over to Madhupur police station for legal proceedings. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madhupur police station, AKM Fazlul Haque, confirmed the matter.
