Emphasis has been placed on expanding technology-based services and increasing public participation to strengthen dengue prevention and control activities. Proposals include a central hotline, mobile application, and reward-based community engagement programs.
These proposals were presented at a meeting titled “Dengue Situation and Prevention Activities” organized by Khulna City Corporation.
Program Officer Fardina Islam Onanya from Path Bangladesh proposed launching a central hotline number for emergency civic services, including dengue-related complaints. She also recommended a mobile app to allow citizens to submit complaints, opinions, and information directly to authorities.
She suggested an integrated website and app system to provide real-time dengue risk updates, daily reports, and public awareness information.
Youth Forum member Ashfakur Rahman Shanto proposed a reward-based community engagement model, suggesting recognition for households maintaining clean environments free from mosquito larvae.
He recommended awarding stickers such as “This house is clean and mosquito-free” based on regular evaluations.
Khulna City Corporation Administrator Nazrul Islam Monju instructed officials to take necessary steps to launch a hotline service and expressed support for incorporating reward-based initiatives.
Officials said KCC and Path Bangladesh will work jointly in future to enhance awareness and dengue control activities.
Public health experts believe combining technology and community participation could open new possibilities for dengue prevention and control.
