Three youths and one human trafficker detained while attempting to illegally enter India through Chapainawabganj border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained three Bangladeshi youths while they were attempting to illegally enter India through the Bokchar border area of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila. A human trafficker involved in sending them to India was also arrested at the same time.

Members of the 53 BGB Battalion carried out the operation around 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Bokchar border area. The matter was confirmed through a press release sent to the media by Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mustafizur Rahman.

The detained human trafficker is Md. Shahin, son of Ebadul Islam of Bokchar village. The three youths attempting to enter India are Md. Mizanur Rahman from Chandpur Lahlamari of Shibganj Upazila in Chapainawabganj, Shafiqul Islam Munna from Asam Colony in Rajshahi city, and Md. Tarajul Islam from Durgapur area of Mithapukur Upazila in Rangpur.

According to BGB sources, based on intelligence information, a raid was conducted about 200 yards inside Bangladesh from the zero line of the border. During the operation, all four individuals were detained. During preliminary interrogation, the detainees said they were planning to go to Chennai, India, with Shahin’s assistance to work as construction laborers.

The commander of the 53 BGB Battalion said the four detainees have been handed over to Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Station for legal action. He added that BGB operations to prevent illegal border crossings and human trafficking will continue.
