Russian citizen dies while exercising in gym at Rooppur project area

A Russian citizen has died suddenly in the residential area of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project in Ishwardi, Pabna.

The deceased was identified as Churkin (40).

On Friday (May 1) at around 7:30 PM, he suddenly felt severe chest pain while exercising at a gym in the Newhat Green City residential area.

Colleagues quickly took him to the residential medical center. As his condition worsened, he was taken to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

It is known that Churkin was a resident of Krasnodar region in Russia and was working under subcontractor Atom Tech Energo for the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project.

Inspector (Investigation) Jamal Uddin of Ishwardi Police Station said the initial assumption is that he died of a heart attack, but the exact cause will be confirmed after autopsy.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Ali Ehsan said the foreign national had already died before being brought to the hospital.

OC Mominuzzaman Momin of Ishwardi Police Station said that after legal procedures, the body was sent to the morgue of Pabna Medical College Hospital for autopsy, and necessary legal actions are being taken.
