During a meeting of the Cricket Operations Department on Wednesday, it was decided to organize a special fitness and conditioning camp for potential national team players from February 1. According to BCB sources, the camp may continue until February 9.
The camp will include regular cricketers from Test, ODI, and T20 formats as well as players on the periphery of the national team. A preliminary list of players is being prepared by the national team selection panel. After the conditioning camp, players will be given a short break to vote in the national parliamentary elections.
Post-election, they plan to bring the players back to the field. The Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) One-Day edition could begin from February 17 or 18. This tournament, to be held with four teams, will feature national team players in three teams, with the fourth team comprising high-performance (HP) unit players.
BCL’s One-Day league matches are planned for Rajshahi and Bogura stadiums, with the final at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur. The entire league is expected to finish within approximately two weeks.
Previously, BCB considered giving more opportunities to U-23 players in this year’s BCL One-Day tournament. However, due to Bangladesh not participating in the World Cup, this plan was revised. Organizing BCL One-Day and four-day leagues aims to keep national team players active and maintain fitness, as well as alleviate the frustration caused by a long hiatus.
