Leicester City continues to go through a difficult period in the English Championship. On Saturday (April 18), their 1–0 defeat against Portsmouth further increased their relegation fears.

During this match, an unfortunate incident occurred involving Bangladesh-origin midfielder Hamza Choudhury. He was allegedly subjected to racist remarks from the stands during the game.

The incident took place in the 71st minute when Leicester were trailing. At that time, when the coach substituted him off the field, he reportedly heard abusive comments from opposition supporters while walking towards the dugout. In response, he reacted towards the stands.

As the situation escalated, the referee intervened. Hamza tried to explain the incident through gestures, but the referee ignored it and showed him a yellow card, which further frustrated the midfielder.

After the match, the incident has drawn criticism. Issues of racism in football have been raised multiple times before, and this incident has brought the issue back into discussion.

Meanwhile, due to this defeat, Leicester City has fallen into a dangerous position in the points table. With 41 points from 43 matches, the team is now in 23rd place. To avoid relegation, they must rise at least to 21st place, which has become a major challenge.
