Rajbari District Chhatra League President Arrested at Shahjalal International Airport

Md. Shahin Sheikh, President of Rajbari District Chhatra League, was arrested by immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. He was detained on Friday afternoon (today) while preparing to travel to Qatar.

The 33-year-old Shahin Sheikh is a resident of Char Laxmipur village, Rajbari Sadar Upazila. He assumed office as President of Rajbari District Chhatra League in March 2022. Following the fall of the Awami League government, he reportedly went into hiding from 5 August 2024.

Additional Police Superintendent (Administration & Finance) of Rajbari District Police, Tapas Kumar Pal, stated that Shahin Sheikh was arrested at around 12:30 pm by the airport immigration police and handed over to Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Airport Police Station. Later, at 6 pm, a Rajbari district police team took him into their custody.

Police sources mention multiple cases against Shahin Sheikh, including attacks, shootings, and attempted killings of students during anti-discrimination movements. Currently, four cases are under trial at Rajbari Sadar Police Station.
