Tension surrounding the district office of the Jatiya Party (JP) in Bogura has come to an end. Following directives from District Commissioner Md. Toufiqul Rahman, banners hung outside the party office were removed and the locks were opened. After the lock was removed on Tuesday evening, the Bogura District Jatiya Party organized a party meeting there on Wednesday afternoon.

According to party sources, a prayer gathering was held on Wednesday afternoon at the office seeking eternal peace for the souls of Jatiya Party founder and former President Hussain Muhammad Ershad and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. Central and local party leaders attended the event, followed by a discussion meeting.

The discussion meeting, moderated by District Joint General Secretary Lutfar Rahman Sarkar, was addressed by Rajshahi Divisional Organizing Secretary Shaheen Mostafa Kamal, district leaders Fazle Rahim, Abdullah Al Mamun, Goni Sarkar, Montu Pashari, Abu Taher, and Abdul Majid Alamgir Monsher, among others.

Lutfar Rahman Sarkar said that last Saturday, several individuals identifying themselves as “July fighters” occupied the district Jatiya Party office, hung banners outside, and locked the office. With the intervention of the district administration, the banners were removed on Monday and the lock was opened on Tuesday evening.

Local residents and police sources said that on Saturday afternoon, a group of people arrived in a protest procession and removed the party banner from the office located on Kazi Nazrul Islam Road in the city. They then hung different banners and took control of the office. The situation returned to normal following administrative intervention, and regular activities have now resumed.
