Jatiya Party Chairman's Decisions "Illegal" and "Autocratic," Allege Expelled Leaders

Jatiya Party (JP) Senior Co-Chairman Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud has branded the party chairman's decisions as "illegal." Speaking at a press conference organized by expelled JP leaders in Gulshan today (Tuesday), he firmly stated, "We are still in our positions. We are all founding members. Every decision by the chairman is autocratic."

Anisul Islam Mahmud alleged, "GM Quader became chairman in the dead of night. He forcibly took signatures in the dead of night when Ershad Saheb was very ill. No democratic party hands over power in the dead of night. He [Ershad] was ill; power was seized by force."

Addressing GM Quader, he challenged, "Make decisions through a convention. We want to go to a council. Why don't you want a convention? Let power be transferred through a council."

Among those present at the press conference alongside Anisul Islam Mahmud were former Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu, A.B.M. Ruhul Amin Howlader, Kazi Firoz Rashid, Syed Abu Hossain Babla, and other expelled JP leaders.
