Yemen's Houthi rebel group claims to have attacked and sunk a cargo ship in the Red Sea. The attack reportedly involved gunfire, rockets, and remote-controlled explosive-laden boats, according to Reuters.

However, the Greek owner of the vessel, Stem Shipping, told Reuters they could not yet confirm with certainty whether the ship had actually sunk. Reuters was also unable to immediately verify this information.

The Houthi rebels stated that the attack occurred last Sunday. They claim to have targeted the Liberia-flagged ship named Magic Seas and allowed all 19 crew members on board to disembark safely.

Stem Shipping also informed Reuters that another commercial vessel passing by the area rescued all the crew members and proceeded towards Djibouti.

Earlier, authorities in the United Arab Emirates stated yesterday that the ship had sent a distress signal after being hit in the Red Sea. Upon receiving the signal, a vessel named Safi Prism, owned by AD Ports Group, proceeded to the scene and successfully rescued all 22 individuals on board.

Michael Boudouroglou, a representative for Stem Shipping, had previously stated that after the attack, the Magic Seas began taking on water and was at risk of sinking. The vessel was carrying iron and fertilizers from China and was en route to Turkey.
