Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has stated that foreign powers have begun their interference and conspiracy surrounding the national elections in Bangladesh. He said, “The dark shadow of Delhi’s dominance has spread all around. From business and politics to international policy and diplomacy, even up to the upcoming elections, foreign conspiracies are underway, which are shattering the hopes and aspirations of the people of our country.”

He made these remarks on Thursday afternoon at the National Press Club during an event organized by the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) titled ‘The Role of Journalists in the July Student-People’s Mass Uprising’ and a ceremony honoring the families of martyred journalists.

Mia Golam Parwar accused that under the guise of an ‘inclusive’ election, foreign powers are conspiring to bring the Awami League to power. He said, “Various philosophies and refined versions of the Awami League are being used to manipulate the people and political forces of the country. Everyone must remain vigilant.”

He further added, “Although the Awami League’s rule has been observed, the roots of fascism are still firmly entrenched. Fascist groups are still active in various levels of the administration and constitutional institutions. So, even if one fascist leaves, fascism has not ended in the country.”

Referring to the efforts to hold a neutral election since the July uprising, he said, “While progress is made, the election process is often pushed back. Those who want to block the possibility of a neutral election will be resisted.”

Though Jamaat trusts the election timeline set by the government, Golam Parwar demanded assurance that this election would not be conducted like those during the Awami League’s rule.

He said that despite differences among political parties during the National Unity Commission talks, internal divisions should be avoided. Parties are expressing their opinions as part of the parliamentary process. He warned against spreading false information out of political grudges.

Mia Golam Parwar believes that the need for national unity among anti-fascist political parties has not ended. He called for agreement on fundamental issues to build a new Bangladesh and urged forgetting divisions and discord.

He also noted, “Some media houses and corporate entities have occasionally taken planned negative stances against political parties, which is creating confusion among the nation.”

The event, chaired by DUJ President Md. Shahidul Islam and moderated by General Secretary Khurshid Alam, also featured speeches by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Citizens Alliance President Mahmudur Rahman Manna, BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Abdus Salam, Standing Committee Member A Z M Zahid Hossain, National Press Club President and Editor of Daily Kaler Kantho Hasan Hafiz, Acting BFUJ President Obaidur Rahman Shaheen, General Secretary Qader Gani Chowdhury, Editor of Daily Jugantor Abdul Hai Sikdar, Executive Editor of Daily Amar Desh Syed Abdal Rahman, former General Secretary of National Press Club Ilyas Khan, BFUJ Vice President A K M Mohsin, expatriate journalist Imran Ansari, DUJ Vice President Rashedul Haque, Organizing Secretary M Saeed Khan, Treasurer Khandakar Alamgir Hossain, among others
