The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall today, Wednesday, for four divisions of the country. Such rainfall is expected in some areas of Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, and Barishal divisions within the next 24 hours starting from 10 AM today. Yesterday, Tuesday, various parts of the country also experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall, with Feni recording an unprecedented 440 millimeters in the last 24 hours, making it a record for the region this year.

The warning issued by the Meteorological Department today states that this rainfall is due to the active south-west monsoon.

According to the Meteorological Office's definition, rainfall between 44 and 88 millimeters in 24 hours is considered heavy rainfall, while rainfall exceeding 88 millimeters is classified as very heavy rainfall.

The warning expresses concern about the possibility of landslides in some hilly areas of the Chattogram division due to this very heavy rainfall. Additionally, temporary waterlogging is also warned for Dhaka, Chattogram, and Khulna metropolitan areas during this period.

Rainfall began this morning in various parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka. Due to continuous rain, the water level of the Turag River has already risen, inundating several areas of Ashulia.
