The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast heavy (44 to 88 mm) to very heavy (more than 88 mm) rainfall in some areas of the Chattogram, Khulna, and Barishal divisions within the 24 hours starting from 10:00 AM today, Saturday. This rainfall is expected due to the active presence of the southwest monsoon.
The Meteorological Department warns that landslides are apprehended in some hilly areas of the Chattogram division due to the very heavy rainfall. Additionally, heavy rain may cause temporary waterlogging in various parts of Chattogram city.
According to the Meteorological Department's forecast from yesterday evening, the monsoon is currently moderately active over Bangladesh. Today, light to moderate rain is expected in most areas (76 to 100 percent of the area) of the Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, and in many areas (51 to 75 percent of the area) of the Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions.
