Hanging body of ASI recovered from Bogura Police Lines

The hanging body of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ariful Islam (40) has been recovered from a room inside Bogura Police Lines. After the incident came to light on Friday morning, a shadow of mourning fell across the police lines.

The deceased Ariful Islam was a resident of Padmabil Ghoria village under Naldanga upazila of Natore. He was working in the wireless branch of Bogura Police Lines. He lived on the second floor of the building with other members. His wife and children live in their village home.

Colleagues said that Ariful Islam was normal until Thursday night. On Friday morning, when he was not seen for a long time, colleagues began searching for him. At one point, a nearby workshop room was found locked from inside, raising suspicion. Looking through the window, they saw him hanging from the ceiling fan with a rope around his neck.

Police officials, including Mirza Sayem Mahmud, rushed to the scene after receiving the news. Later, a inquest report was prepared in the presence of an executive magistrate, and the body was recovered.

Bogura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ibrahim Ali said that initially it is believed he may have died by suicide due to mental stress or personal reasons. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy report.

The body was sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. After procedures, the body was handed over to the family.

Police Superintendent Mirza Sayem Mahmud said that no information of family dispute was found after speaking with family members. The matter is being investigated to determine the real cause of the incident.
