Election process suspended in Pabna-1 and Pabna-2 constituencies

Due to legal disputes over constituency boundaries, the Election Commission (EC) has temporarily suspended the election process in Pabna-1 and Pabna-2 constituencies. This decision has been made ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election.

The EC sources said the suspension follows a directive from the Supreme Court Appellate Division and will remain in effect until further orders. Chief Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Mashud confirmed the decision, stating that the EC is bound to implement it.

Earlier, the Appellate Division had restored the previous boundaries of Pabna-1 and Pabna-2 and suspended the relevant sections of the revised gazette issued by the EC. The order will remain until a “leave to appeal” is filed. After future legal decisions, the timing and boundaries for elections in these two constituencies will be determined.
