Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, and Water Resources, stated that achieving zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions requires a sincere practice of social responsibility.
Speaking as the chief guest at the "International Social Business Summit (ISBS) 2025: NGO Leadership in Achieving Three Zeros in the Muslim World" held today, Saturday (July 5), at Hotel Bengal Blueberry in Gulshan, Dhaka, she urged leaders from various Muslim countries to adopt a genuine social business model to combat poverty, unemployment, and environmental degradation.
Rizwana Hasan lamented, "We speak of values, but we don't apply them—that's the problem. True change only comes when moral ideals are put into practice." Criticizing modern capitalism, she said, "Modern capitalism has had an adverse impact on nature and society. If we don't change our economic model now, many countries will be submerged by the end of this century, and many civilizations will be lost."
She emphasized the need to reconsider consumption patterns, stating, "We must learn to differentiate between necessity and excessive demand." Finally, she called for an end to global conflicts, asserting, "We must stop our wars—forever."
