A passenger, Alauddin Ali Togor (35), tragically died after being thrown from a moving bus in Rajshahi. According to allegations, a dispute over seating with the bus driver and helper escalated, leading to him being pushed off the bus. He later died while undergoing treatment at a hospital, sparking outrage in the local community.
Togor was the son of Abu Saeed from Kulpara village, Haripur Union, Paba Upazila. He passed away at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Monday (December 1).
Family sources stated that on November 30 around 4:30 PM, Togor was waiting near Lily Hall Mor with his sister, Rumi Khatun, intending to travel to Godagari. When a local bus bound for Chapainawabganj stopped, they boarded with the supervisor’s assurance of available seats. However, they found the bus overcrowded, prompting Togor to argue with the supervisor.
When told to alight due to the lack of seats, the driver refused to stop and continued at high speed. Togor moved toward the door to request the driver to stop. Allegedly, the helper and supervisor forcibly pushed him off the moving bus. Locals rescued him and admitted him to the hospital, where he later died.
Togor’s elder brother, Dulal Hossain, said, “My brother went to drop his sister at her in-laws’ house, but the driver, helper, and supervisor conspired to kill him.” He demanded justice for the incident.
The body was handed over to the family after an autopsy on Tuesday morning. Dulal Hossain filed a murder case with Kashiadanga Police Station against the driver, supervisor, and helper on Monday night. Police have seized the bus and are investigating the case, ensuring the culprits will face the law, according to OC Azizul Bari.
