A violent clash between two groups in Bhanga Highway Expressway area of Faridpur escalated and spread to nearby villages, leaving one youth dead and at least 20 injured, including police personnel.
The clash lasted about three and a half hours on Tuesday (June 30) from 6:30 pm to 10 pm.
The deceased was identified as 20-year-old Suman Sheikh, son of Milon Sheikh of Kapuria Sadar Di village.
Local sources said the clash originated from a previous dispute over an assault incident months earlier.
Eyewitnesses said both sides faced each other using torchlights at night, and the situation escalated into a full-scale battle involving multiple villages.
Police later brought the situation under control but were injured by brickbats.
After the death news spread, protesters blocked the highway by setting fire, halting traffic for hours.
Police said no written complaint has yet been filed, but legal action will follow after investigation.
