Three youths who had been staying for about 17 days at the zero line of the Bhundurchar border in Roumari upazila of Kurigram have mysteriously gone missing.

On Tuesday night (June 30), they are believed to have left the area. However, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has no confirmed information about where or how they left.

On Wednesday morning (July 1), locals found the area empty, with no sign of the three youths or Indian Border Security Force (BSF) patrols.

Local Union Parishad member Ruhul Amin said the entire area was empty in the morning.

Earlier on June 14, allegations arose that nine people were pushed into Bangladesh by BSF in two border points. Six were in Gayetpara and three in Bhundurchar. Locals and BGB later prevented the push-in attempt.

Later, the six at Gayetpara left the area. Similarly, the three youths at Bhundurchar disappeared Tuesday night.

Confirming the incident, BGB commander Lt. Col. Hasanur Rahman said the youths are no longer seen and their whereabouts are unknown. Security has been tightened along the border.

The disappearance has created new uncertainty and questions about how they left the border area.
