A violent clash erupted between two factions of the BNP in the remote riverside area of Alokbali in Narsingdi Sadar Upazila over dominance, leaving local Jubo Dal leader Sadeq Mia (42) shot dead and at least 10 others injured.

According to police and local sources, the conflict began early Monday morning between supporters of Union BNP convener Shah Alam Chowdhury and expelled member secretary Kaiyum. As one side attempted an attack via the river route, both groups confronted each other, resulting in gunfire and grenade explosions. Several injured, including Sadeq Mia, were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in serious condition.

Superintendent of Police Md. Menhazul Alam said additional police, RAB, and army personnel were deployed at the scene, and the situation is currently under control.

It is noteworthy that earlier, two more people had been killed in the same union due to similar dominance-related conflicts. The ongoing violence has created extreme fear in the area as casualties continue to rise.
