The number of expelled students for using unfair means has decreased on the fifth day of the ongoing HSC and equivalent examinations. A total of 29 candidates were expelled on Saturday (July 11) for violating examination rules across eight general education boards, the Madrasa Education Board and the Technical Education Board.
According to data released by the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, a total of 824,138 candidates were scheduled to sit for the Information and Communication Technology (compulsory) examination under the general education boards on the fifth day. Among them, 803,346 students appeared in the examination. A total of 18 candidates were expelled from these boards for using unfair means.
Among the general education boards, the highest number of expulsions occurred under the Mymensingh Board, where four students were expelled. Three students each were expelled from the Dinajpur and Cumilla boards, while two students each were expelled from Dhaka, Rajshahi, Jessore and Sylhet boards.
Meanwhile, Saturday’s scheduled examination under the Chattogram Education Board was postponed due to flooding and adverse weather conditions.
In the Madrasa Education Board’s English First Paper examination, nine candidates were expelled for unfair practices. The Technical Education Board reported two expulsions.
Earlier, the highest number of expulsions occurred on the fourth day of the HSC and equivalent examinations, when 80 students were removed for rule violations. During the first four days, seven students were expelled on the first day, 17 on the second day and 48 on the third day.
Education board officials said strict monitoring is continuing at examination centers to maintain a fair environment and prevent cheating and other unfair practices.
