Dhaka Central University (DCU) has received an overwhelming response in its first-ever admission process. More than 66,000 applications have already been submitted for the 2025–26 undergraduate (honors) first-year admission cycle, signaling strong interest in the new institution.

According to university sources, by 2:41 PM on Saturday (June 27), a total of 66,162 applications had been submitted. Among them, 31,553 applicants applied for the Science Unit, 23,365 for Arts and Social Science, and 11,244 for Business Studies.

Formed by combining seven government colleges in the capital, Dhaka Central University is admitting students for the first time. Authorities and education analysts view this high level of interest positively.

According to the admission notice, candidates will be able to download their admit cards online from July 5. Classes for the first-year students are expected to begin from September 6 after the admission tests.

For the 2025–26 academic year, students will be admitted into four-year honors programs under Science, Business Studies, and Arts and Social Science units.

Applications are being accepted online with a fee of 800 taka. Detailed eligibility criteria, seat numbers, examination procedures, and other information are provided in the official admission guidelines.

Experts believe that even as a new university, the large number of applications indicates strong competition and growing trust in the institution.
