Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan has emphasized the importance of creative education to make the country’s education system more effective and modern.
Speaking as chief guest at the Dean’s Award ceremony held at the central auditorium of Jagannath University on Wednesday (June 17), he said that society is currently overly focused on GPA-5 results, while creativity and skill development are not receiving equal importance.
He said Bangladesh’s greatest strength is its large human resource base, which must be developed through skills and creativity to contribute to national development. The government is prioritizing technical and vocational education so that students can demonstrate real-life competencies.
Addressing award-winning students, he said recognition is not only a symbol of academic success but also a responsibility to contribute to society and the state.
The minister highlighted improvements in textbook printing and distribution compared to the past and stressed making educational institutions free from political influence and more student-friendly.
He also said government investment in education will gradually increase. Plans are underway to raise education spending beyond the current share of GDP. He added that construction of new dormitories at Jagannath University’s second campus is under consideration.
University officials, education ministry representatives, faculty members, students, and guests were present at the event. More than a hundred students received Dean’s Awards, including Ava Rahman from the Microbiology Department who achieved a perfect CGPA of 4.00.
