Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon has expressed hope that Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) will play a significant leadership role in the sustainable development, technological modernization, and global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industry.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at the “4th International Conference on Textile Science and Engineering” organized by BUTEX in the capital on Saturday (June 20).
The minister said Bangladesh’s textile and garment sector has already established a strong position in the global economy. He stressed that there is no alternative to skilled manpower, research, and innovation to further strengthen this position.
He praised BUTEX for its long-standing contribution to producing world-class textile engineers and developing skilled professionals according to industry demand. He said the university is expected to become even stronger in the international arena through the integration of modern technology, research, and innovation.
Dr. Milon also said global competition is increasing day by day. Therefore, the textile sector must become more modern, environmentally friendly, and technology-driven. He urged students to engage more in innovative ideas and industry-oriented research.
Researchers, academics, and industry representatives from home and abroad participated in the conference. They exchanged views on the latest innovations in textile technology, sustainable production systems, smart textiles, and the future prospects of the industry.
Organizers said the international conference will create new opportunities for knowledge and experience exchange among researchers, academics, and industry experts, which will contribute positively to the development of the country’s textile sector.
