Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that the government plans to bring coaching centers under a formal regulatory framework. In the future, coaching centers will require government approval to operate.
He made these remarks at a press briefing on the HSC and equivalent exams held at the Ministry of Education on Wednesday (July 1).
The minister said students often rely on coaching due to insufficient classroom teaching. The primary goal is to improve classroom-based education so that dependence on coaching decreases.
Teachers will be trained to provide additional academic support within their institutions. Schools will also be categorized based on capacity for better supervision and assistance.
He emphasized that not only elite institutions but all schools will receive equal attention to improve education quality. Even students from reputed institutions often depend on coaching, which is not aligned with a sustainable education system.
Regarding coaching centers, he said student safety is the state’s responsibility. Coaching centers cannot operate arbitrarily in unsafe or unsuitable environments. Approval will depend on fire safety, infrastructure, and student-friendly conditions.
On university admissions, the minister said discussions are ongoing with vice-chancellors to reduce student suffering and avoid session delays by coordinating admission test schedules.
He also noted that the 2027 SSC exam schedule has been published early to help students prepare systematically.
In case of natural disasters, exam arrangements will be adjusted in coordination with local administration, as has been done successfully in the past.
