The National Citizen Party (NCP) has suspended several July March programmes in the southern region due to sudden flooding caused by continuous heavy rainfall and mountain water surges in Chattogram.
The party’s media cell announced the decision in a message sent Saturday morning.
NCP said the July March programmes scheduled for Cumilla city and Homna on Sunday (July 12), and three locations in Brahmanbaria on Monday (July 13), will remain suspended temporarily. The decision was taken considering the flood situation and public safety.
However, other scheduled programmes outside the affected areas will continue as planned. According to the schedule, the July March will be held in Chandpur Sadar at 3pm and Matlab Uttar at 6pm on Saturday. In the northern region, programmes in Godagari of Rajshahi at 3pm and Gomostapur of Chapainawabganj at 6pm will also continue.
NCP said July March programmes in the suspended areas will be rescheduled once the situation improves.
The party also expressed sympathy for people affected by the ongoing disaster and said its leaders and activists would participate in necessary humanitarian activities.
