After Four Years of Relationship, IU and Lee Jong-suk Part Ways

The four-year romantic relationship between popular South Korean singer and actress IU and actor Lee Jong-suk has ended. Their respective management agencies confirmed the news on Friday.

Representatives said IU and Lee Jong-suk decided to separate through mutual understanding. However, they will continue to respect each other as colleagues in the future.

According to local media reports, their busy schedules and professional commitments had reduced the time they could spend together. Eventually, they decided to end their relationship.

IU and Lee Jong-suk first met in 2012 while working together as hosts of the South Korean music program “Inkigayo.” After years of friendship, the two stars publicly confirmed their romantic relationship at the end of 2022.

IU began her singing career in 2008 and gained widespread popularity in the Korean music industry through hit songs such as “Good Day” and “You and I.” She later established herself as a successful actress, appearing in popular dramas including “When Life Gives You Tangerines.”

Recently, IU completed promotions for her drama “Perfect Crown” and is currently working on a new album. She is also scheduled to hold a concert at Gwang Stadium in September.

Lee Jong-suk began his entertainment career as a model in 2005 and made his acting debut in 2010 through the drama “Prosecutor Princess.” He later gained fame through popular dramas including “Secret Garden,” “I Can Hear Your Voice” and “Pinocchio.”

He is currently working on new projects and will soon appear in Disney Plus’s upcoming series “The Remarried Empress.”

Despite the end of their four-year relationship, sources close to both stars said IU and Lee Jong-suk are ready to continue moving forward with their respective careers.
