Body of Teenager Found Inside Sack in Khulna: Parents Accused of Murder

Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) has claimed to have uncovered the mystery behind the murder of a teenage girl whose body was recovered inside a sack in Khulna city. According to police, the girl was allegedly killed by her parents because they did not accept her romantic relationship.

The victim’s mother has already been arrested and gave a confessional statement before the court. Police are conducting operations to arrest the accused father.

Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan disclosed the information at a press conference held at the KMP headquarters on Saturday morning.

Police said that on the night of July 8, the body of an unidentified teenage girl was recovered from inside a plastic sack on Road No. 3 of Prantika Residential Area under Khulna Sadar Police Station. The body was later sent to the morgue of Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsy, and an investigation was launched.

Considering the seriousness of the incident, police began efforts to identify the victim with assistance from different law enforcement agencies. Investigators used social media posts, radio messages and information from various sources to identify her.

After failing to confirm her identity immediately, police filed a murder case against unidentified individuals on July 10.

During the investigation, the victim was identified as Arfana Hossain Nirjona, a resident of Basupara area under Sonadanga Police Station in Khulna city. Later, important information emerged after questioning her family members.

Police said Nirjona’s mother, Arifa Yasmin Sima, initially provided misleading information during interrogation but later admitted her involvement in the killing. She subsequently gave a voluntary confessional statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure before the court.

According to investigators, there had been ongoing disputes within the family over the girl’s personal relationship. On the day of the incident, during a family argument, her father Mohammad Alim Hossain Akash allegedly struck her head multiple times with a stick. She died from her injuries, and her body was later placed inside a plastic sack and abandoned in the Prantika Residential Area in an attempt to conceal the crime.

Police Commissioner said that since the victim’s parents have been identified as suspects, police themselves filed the murder case as the complainant. The arrested mother has been sent to court, while efforts are continuing to arrest the fugitive father.

The investigation is still ongoing, and police are also examining whether anyone else was involved in the killing.
