Shafiqur Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor of the interim government, has stated that there is no uncertainty regarding the upcoming election and that it will be held as scheduled, according to the Chief Advisor’s announcement. He made these remarks while speaking to journalists on Saturday (19 July) after attending an event organized by Comilla University at the Moynamoti Auditorium of BARD (Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development) in Comilla.
Shafiqur Alam said, “There is no uncertainty about the election. It will be held on time as announced by the Chief Advisor. The necessary environment will be ensured for the election, and there will be a level playing field for all. This election will be better than any previous election.”
Regarding the proposal to hold the parliamentary election under the Proportional Representation (PR) system, the Press Secretary said, “All political parties and commissions are discussing the matter sincerely and constructively.”
Notably, the TEDxComilla University event, themed “The Next Wave,” was held for the second time at Comilla University. Among the speakers were Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Haydar Ali, astro-photographer Zubayer Kaolin, Chorki CEO Redwan Rony, author Del H. Khan, singer Asif Akbar, news presenter Farabi Hafiz, and others.
