Bogura District Commissioner Md. Tawfiqur Rahman has directed the removal of banners from the BNP district office that was occupied by the National Party (Japa). He confirmed on Monday evening that those involved in occupying the office were summoned to issue the directive. However, even by Monday evening, the padlock hung by the occupiers was still visible on the office gate.

Meanwhile, Abdullah Al Sani, Joint Secretary of Bogura district branch of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has been temporarily relieved over alleged party disciplinary violations. He has been instructed to appear in person before the district committee convener and secretary within 24 hours and submit a written explanation.

On Sunday midnight, NCP Bogura district branch office secretary Mainul Islam issued a press release announcing this decision. Although the release cited party discipline violations as the reason, multiple party sources stated that the main cause was the takeover of the Japa office.

NCP Bogura district convener M.S.A. Mahmud said the decision was taken to maintain organizational discipline. He also mentioned that, as per district administration instructions, the occupiers were asked to remove banners from Japa’s office.

Abdullah Al Sani had long presented himself as the leader of the ‘Bogura Inquilab Coordination Committee.’ However, Abdullah Al Jaber, central secretary of Inquilab Mancha, stated on social media on Monday that there is no organizational committee of Inquilab Mancha in Bogura. He urged that anyone attempting extortion in the name of Inquilab Mancha be handed over to authorities.

Asked about the matter, Abdullah Al Sani said a coordination committee had been formed for establishing Inquilab Mancha. He denied extortion allegations and claimed he was relieved from NCP due to the Japa office takeover. He added that he had previously submitted a written request to resign due to organizational commitments.

According to district administration and police sources, on Saturday afternoon, a protest march was organized by several NCP leaders under the name ‘July Warriors.’ The march reached the Japa district office on Kobi Nazrul Islam Road in Bogura town, where a padlock was hung, taking control of the office. During this time, a condolence banner was removed and two other banners were hung in its place.

After the incident, the occupiers filed a general diary (GD) at Sadar Police Station, claiming they were attacked and threatened while presenting themselves as ‘July Warriors’ and demanded the Japa office be used as an NCP campaign office.

District Commissioner Md. Tawfiqur Rahman said that taking over any political party office after the schedule announcement is unacceptable, and he instructed the removal of banners and restoration of normalcy.

Shamim Haider Patwari, General Secretary of the National Party, alleged that the Japa district office was deliberately occupied with padlocks after the schedule announcement. He added that the administration had been informed but the office had not been freed by Monday evening. He also said legal action would be taken if necessary.
