A 101-member convening committee of the National Diploma Engineers Alliance (NDEA), an organization supported by the National Citizen Party (NCP), has been formed with the objective of protecting the rights of diploma engineers, advancing technical education, expanding employment opportunities, and developing skilled human resources.
The formation of the new committee was announced through a press release issued on Saturday.
According to the announcement, Engineer Md. Sheikh Jamal (Abir) has been appointed Convener, Engineer Faisal Alam Sohel as Member Secretary, and Engineer Md. Alamgir Hossain as Organizational Secretary.
Several other engineers have been assigned responsibilities as Senior Joint Conveners, Joint Conveners, Senior Joint Member Secretaries, and Joint Member Secretaries. In addition, divisional secretaries, assistant organizational secretaries, and organizers have been appointed to strengthen the organizational structure.
Leaders of the organization stated that they intend to work toward improving the status of technical education and enhancing the professional dignity of diploma engineers across the country. Various initiatives will also be undertaken to improve the skills of young engineers, promote technology-based employment opportunities, and encourage entrepreneurship.
According to the newly appointed leaders, diploma engineers have faced numerous professional challenges and unmet demands over the years, making collective action essential. The organization’s activities will focus on addressing these concerns.
Representatives from different regions and professional sectors have been included in the committee. NDEA also plans to unveil a comprehensive action plan soon and expand organizational activities at the grassroots level.
Observers believe the new committee could play a significant role in more effectively highlighting issues related to diploma engineers and the broader technical and technology sectors.
