Bangladesh Jubo Odhikar Parishad organized a protest rally in the capital demanding action over alleged border push-ins, the reported organizational activities of the banned Chhatra League and Awami League, and accountability for past political violence.
The demonstration, consisting of a procession and public gathering, was held on Friday afternoon in front of the National Press Club. Leaders from the organization’s central and metropolitan units participated and addressed issues related to border security, political violence, and the country’s current political environment.
Speaking at the rally, Jubo Odhikar Parishad President Nadim Hasan said that forcing people across international borders is contrary to international law and human rights principles. He called for effective diplomatic initiatives and international attention to prevent such incidents.
He also alleged that judicial processes concerning past incidents of violence and human rights violations have not progressed at the expected pace and demanded visible legal action against those responsible.
General Secretary Muntazul Islam expressed concern over reports of activities allegedly carried out by banned political organizations in different parts of the country. He urged law enforcement agencies and relevant authorities to take stronger measures to prevent such activities.
Speakers at the rally emphasized the need for swift and impartial trials of individuals accused of political violence, corruption, and abuse of power. They also called on all political forces to act responsibly in maintaining a democratic environment.
The event was chaired by Fakhrul Islam, President of Dhaka Metropolitan South, and moderated by Hossain Noor, General Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North. Leaders from Ganadhikar Parishad, Jubo Odhikar Parishad, Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, and Sramik Odhikar Parishad also addressed the gathering.
Following the meeting, participants marched in a protest procession, chanting slogans demanding border security, political accountability, and justice.
