Jamaat MPs Undergo Two-Day Orientation Workshop in Parliament to Prepare for Active Role

After the oath-taking and election of opposition leadership, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami organized a two-day orientation workshop for its parliamentary members to prepare them for an effective role in the national parliament. The initiative aimed to familiarize newly elected members with parliamentary activities, according to party sources.

The workshop started Wednesday morning and ended Thursday afternoon at Al-Falah Auditorium adjacent to the party’s central office in Mogbazar, Dhaka. The program was divided into five separate sessions and was named the “Orientation Program.”

Party leaders mentioned that most of the Jamaat MPs elected this term are attending the national parliament for the first time. The program was designed to provide a clear understanding of parliamentary procedures, bill and budget processes, standing committee functions, and the strategic role of the opposition.

Former bureaucrats, academicians, former election commission officials, and ex-MPs gave presentations on various topics. A Q&A session followed, allowing new MPs to ask questions and receive clarifications. Topics included parliamentary protocol, individual and party responsibilities, opposition positions on bills and laws, and the potential bicameral parliamentary structure.

Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, head of the party’s publicity and media department, said the initiative aims to ensure MPs play a positive and credible role in parliament. Several participants stated that the orientation helped them gain initial knowledge of parliamentary work and would be important for executing the opposition’s role effectively.

Party sources confirmed that such training programs will continue before parliamentary sessions, including budget sessions, to enhance the skills and preparedness of MPs.
