In Kuakata, police arrested a man named Md. Maksud for attacking a business establishment, vandalism, and issuing threats. The arrest took place during an operation on Thursday night (19 February) at around 10 PM.

A video of the incident circulated on social media, sparking widespread discussion and criticism. Local sources reported that the video shows a shop being attacked and a chaotic situation unfolding.

Police stated that the incident arose due to a dispute over land ownership of the shop. The affected shop owner, Monir, filed a complaint at the local police station, alleging attack, vandalism, intimidation, and theft.

Mohipur Police Station OC Mahbub Khan said a formal case was filed following the written complaint. The accused has been arrested and preparations are underway to present him before the court after completing legal procedures.

Additionally, for allegedly being involved in anti-party activities, Md. Maksud has been expelled from all positions, including his initial membership, in the Bangladesh Nationalist Volunteer Party (BNVP) Patuakhali district branch. The district president, Moshiur Rahman Milon, and general secretary, Md. Enayet Hossain Mohan, approved this decision via an official notice.

Police also stated that the allegations of extortion circulating on social media are being investigated seriously. Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident originated from a land dispute, and the full investigation continues.
