In Bhanga Upazila of Faridpur, a violent clash broke out among residents of four villages over the use of a loudspeaker for a football match. The clash lasted nearly five hours, during which at least 200 people, including police officers, were injured. In addition, nearly 50 shops were vandalized.

Local sources stated that on Friday afternoon, a teenager from Munsurabad village used a loudspeaker to promote a football match, which led to verbal arguments with several youths from neighboring villages Khapura, Singardak, and Majhikanda. Allegations emerged that the teenager was physically assaulted. This incident triggered the first wave of conflict in the Munsurabad market area in the evening.

Although police brought the situation under control at night, tensions flared again at 7 a.m. on Saturday. Residents of the four villages then confronted each other with locally made weapons. One group gathered at Munsurabad bus stand, while the other assembled in front of the Hamirdi Union Parishad office.

Eyewitnesses reported that both sides began throwing bricks, stones, and glass bottles from rooftops and shop covers, turning the entire area into a battlefield. Police also faced attacks while trying to stop the violence, and several officers were injured.

The injured were taken to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex and other local clinics. Seriously injured individuals were transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Al Amin, the investigation officer of Bhanga Police Station, said that the situation eventually went beyond police control. Additional police forces were deployed to bring the situation under control. The area remains tense, with law enforcement on alert and patrolling to prevent further violence.
