Shafiqur Rahman, the Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has stated that if his party comes to power, people in the country will no longer have to leave their workplaces and take to the streets to claim their rights. He assured, “Based on justice and fairness, everyone will receive what they are entitled to at the proper time.”

He made these remarks on Saturday (27 September) while delivering the keynote speech at the annual session organized by the Forum of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (FDEB) at the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in Kakrail, Dhaka.

Shafiqur Rahman mentioned three fundamental promises of Jamaat—

  • Education system reform: The current fragile education system will be transformed by creating a new education policy that combines ethics and skills. Students will have the opportunity to secure jobs or become entrepreneurs according to their qualifications after completing their studies.

  • Corruption control: A bribery-free and corruption-free administration will be established.

  • Fair salary structure: Salaries in each sector will be determined according to the work environment and responsibilities.

Regarding police salaries, he said, “If members who take risks to perform their duties are given inadequate pay, why would they sacrifice themselves? Therefore, every employee must be placed in a position of dignity.”

The session was presided over by the acting president of the Forum of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh, Engineer Abdush Chattar. Other speakers included central advisors and Jamaat leaders A.T.M. Azharul Islam, Saiful Alam Milon, and Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, among others.
