Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed has stated that the interim government is prioritizing fundamental reforms rather than long-term or medium-term initiatives. He mentioned, "We have only 7-8 months left. During this period, we will try to implement the fundamental reforms we have undertaken. The Chief Advisor and I are very serious about this."

He made these remarks as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the 'A&A Summit,' jointly organized by the World Bank and the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) at a hotel in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed further added that many believe reforms are being implemented due to pressure from donor agencies like the IMF and World Bank, but this is absolutely not the case. He emphasized, "We need reforms for our own benefit. We are working on those reforms. However, there are many obstacles and various complexities that you might not understand from outside."

The inaugural ceremony, chaired by Finance Division Secretary Khairuzzaman Mozumder, was also addressed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Dr. Mohammad Abul Momen, Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H Mansur, and World Bank's Acting Country Director for Bangladesh, Souleymane Coulibaly, among others.
