Gold prices have seen a reduction in the local market. The price of 22-carat gold has been lowered by BDT 1,575 per bhori, setting the new rate at BDT 170,551. This revised price becomes effective today, Tuesday (July 8).
The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced this development in a press release issued to media outlets on Monday night (July 7).
BAJUS stated in the release that the new gold prices were determined after considering the overall market situation, primarily due to a decrease in the value of acid gold (pure gold) in the local market.
22 Carat: BDT 170,551
21 Carat: BDT 162,794
18 Carat: BDT 139,548
Traditional Method: BDT 115,392
BAJUS also clarified that along with the selling price of gold, the government-mandated 5% VAT and a minimum 6% labor charge set by BAJUS must be compulsorily added. However, the labor charge may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewelry.
This adjustment follows the last price change by BAJUS on July 1, when the price of 22-carat gold was increased by BDT 1,890 per bhori, setting it at BDT 172,126. At that time, 21-carat gold was priced at BDT 164,299 per bhori, 18-carat at BDT 140,831 per bhori, and traditional method gold at BDT 116,488 per bhori.
