Four-year-old child dies after falling into abandoned well in Rauzan

Local sources stated that while playing, the child accidentally fell into the open abandoned well near his house. Family members informed fire service and civil defense immediately.

After nearly four hours of rescue efforts, the child was rescued from the 30-foot-deep well at 8 PM. He was rushed to Rauzan Upazila Health Complex, where Dr. Habibur Rahman declared him dead.

Rauzan police OC Md. Sajedul Islam confirmed the incident. Fire service in-charge Jasim Uddin expressed grief over the failure to save the child. The police and army assisted in the rescue.

Locals believe that the accident occurred due to the wells not being properly closed. The community has urged the government to take action to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
