Youth killed by gunfire while returning home after social event in Raozan

A young man named Kamruzzaman Babul (35) was killed in a shooting incident in Raozan upazila of Chattogram. The incident occurred early Saturday (25 April) in Ali Khil area of the upazila.

The deceased Babul was a resident of Ward No. 9 of the municipality’s Dhalar Mukh area and the son of Abul Kalam Soudagar. According to family sources, he attended a social event at his maternal grandfather’s farm on Friday night. Early in the morning, while returning home with a few friends, unknown miscreants shot him on the road beside DNO Brick Field in Ali Khil area.

Locals rescued him in a seriously injured condition and took him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The victim’s father, Abul Kalam Soudagar, alleged that his son was a simple worker but was vocal against injustice and criminal activities in the area. Due to this, he had been receiving regular threats from local criminals. The family believes he may have been killed as a result of that conflict. Preparations for filing a case are underway.

Officer-in-Charge of Raozan Police Station, Sajedul Islam, said that police visited the scene after receiving the news and have started an investigation to uncover the mystery behind the incident. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved.
