Jubo Dal leader killed in truck accident in Hathazari

In Hathazari upazila of Chattogram, a Jubo Dal leader was allegedly killed after being run over by a dump truck over a financial dispute. The incident took place on Saturday (April 18) at around 7:30 PM at Government Hat area of Mirzapur Union on the Chattogram-Khagrachhari highway.

The deceased, Md. Faisal (32), was a resident of Ward 3 of Mirzapur Union and joint convener of Hathazari Upazila Krishak Dal. He was the son of late Md. Babul and had a daughter.

Local sources say there was a long-standing dispute between Faisal and a man named Juel over financial transactions. Faisal reportedly had around 100,000 taka outstanding, part of which had been paid, but disputes continued.

The family of the deceased claimed that Faisal was called to Government Hat area on the pretext of repaying money. There, he was deliberately run over by a dump truck. He was rescued in critical condition and taken to Hathazari Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

Police recovered the body, prepared an inquest report, and sent it to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Family and party leaders have alleged that this was a planned murder. They said multiple people may be involved and the main suspects are currently absconding.

Police OC Md. Zahidur Rahman said the incident is being treated as a murder case and investigation is ongoing. A case has been filed and efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
