A case has been filed at Ishwardi Government College premises in Pabna over clashes between Chhatra Dal and Chhatra Shibir. The case was filed by Chhatra Dal on Friday night (24 April).
The complainant is Khaleed Bin Parthib, president of Ishwardi College unit Chhatra Dal. The case names 31 individuals, including upazila Chhatra Shibir president Sajeeb Hossain, college unit president Mahmud Hasan, and secretary Asadul Islam. Additionally, 60–70 unknown individuals have also been accused.
Confirming the matter, Additional Superintendent of Police (Ishwardi Circle) Pronob Kumar said that police have launched operations to arrest the accused.
Earlier on Thursday (23 April) around 11:30 AM, tensions arose during a pre-announced programme at the college premises, leading to clashes between the two groups. The situation escalated into chase-counter-chase and crude bomb explosions, causing panic in the area.
Chhatra Dal alleged that their peaceful programme was attacked by Chhatra Shibir members with pre-planned support from outsiders, injuring several activists and vandalizing party offices.
On the other hand, Chhatra Shibir claimed they were attacked while going to their authorized programme, which led to the clash.
Police said the incident is under serious investigation and efforts are underway to identify the real culprits.
