Fire Erupts at Cargo Village of Dhaka’s Shahjalal Airport; 14 Fire Service Units Battling the Blaze

A fire broke out at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday (October 18). The incident was confirmed by Talha Bin Jasim, an official of the Fire Service and Civil Defence media cell.

Thick smoke was seen billowing from the area near Gate No. 8 of the airport’s cargo village. As the fire appeared to be spreading rapidly, 14 units of the Fire Service rushed to the scene and began working to bring the blaze under control. Additionally, two firefighting units from the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority and the Bangladesh Air Force joined the operation.

Meanwhile, 18 more fire service units have been dispatched to the site to accelerate the firefighting efforts, according to official sources.

As of now, the extent of the damage and the cause of the fire remain unclear, but local authorities have taken swift measures to contain the situation.
