Two people were killed in a collision between two covered vans on the Pulia Flyover in Bhanga Upazila of Faridpur on the Dhaka–Bhanga Expressway. The accident occurred early Thursday morning on the Dhaka-bound lane.
The deceased were the driver of a small covered van, Prabir Roy (40), and his assistant Jewel (20). Prabir was from Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila, and Jewel was from Kurigram district.
According to police and local sources, a large covered van was heading toward Dhaka. Meanwhile, another small covered van, moving at high speed, lost control on the flyover and crashed into the back of the larger vehicle. The smaller van was severely damaged, killing the driver and helper on the spot.
Members of the Bhanga Fire Service arrived at the scene and carried out rescue operations. Later, Shibchar Highway Police recovered the bodies. Both vehicles involved in the accident have been seized.
Officer-in-Charge of Shibchar Highway Police Station, Mizanur Rahman, said the bodies are being handed over to the families, and necessary legal procedures have been taken.
