Businessman killed in Sonargaon, robbery allegation spreads panic in area

A businessman named Nazrul Islam was killed in a late-night attack by masked miscreants in Sonargaon, Narayanganj. His wife was also injured in the attack, creating panic in the area.

The incident took place around 12:30 AM on Wednesday in Muktipur village of Mogarapara Union, upazila. The deceased Nazrul Islam was the son of local resident Gazi Mia.

According to police and locals, a group of masked men entered Nazrul Islam’s house at midnight. They first called his name from outside. After the door was opened, they forcibly entered the house, tied him up, and began beating him. He later died from severe injuries.

When his wife Shahana Begum tried to save him, she was also attacked. The miscreants reportedly vandalized the house and looted cash, gold ornaments, and valuables before fleeing.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The wife of the deceased claimed the attackers might have been known to them and killed her husband after he recognized them.

Sonargaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Golam Sarwar said the incident is being investigated seriously. One person named Ujjal has been detained for questioning. He also said no clear evidence of robbery has been found at the scene, but all angles are being investigated, and a case is being prepared.
