The England national football team has announced its squad ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup. Several surprises have been seen in the squad announced by new coach Thomas Tuchel. He has left out several experienced and star players and has given opportunities to new faces and in-form players.
Long-time reliable defender Harry Maguire has not been included in the World Cup squad. In addition, well-known stars such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Phil Foden, and Cole Palmer have also been dropped from the squad.
However, trust has been placed on young star Jude Bellingham in midfield. Along with him, Declan Rice and Jordan Henderson are also in the squad.
The most talked-about inclusion in the team is striker Ivan Toney. After being out of the national team for more than a year, he has once again been given a chance. His outstanding performance in the Saudi Pro League for Al-Ahli, especially scoring 32 goals, caught Tuchel’s attention.
In the attacking line, captain Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins, Bukayo Saka, and Marcus Rashford are also included.
In defense, Reece James, John Stones, and Dan Burn have been given opportunities. Jordan Pickford will take responsibility as the goalkeeper.
This squad, built with a combination of new and experienced players, has already sparked discussion in the football world. It remains to be seen how successful Tuchel’s strategy will be.
