EC formally requests Ministry of Home Affairs to strengthen security at election offices

According to EC sources, a letter was sent on Thursday to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The letter mentioned that the schedule for the 13th National Parliamentary Election was announced on December 11, and notifications regarding the appointments of Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers have already been issued.

The EC noted that these offices hold important election-related documents, ballots, necessary election materials, and various equipment. Given the sensitive law-and-order situation during elections, it is essential to ensure the security of these documents and materials as well as the safety of officials and staff.

Hence, the EC has urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to provide instructions for deploying sufficient police forces at these offices according to the situation. The EC believes that with proper security measures, the election process can be conducted smoothly and impartially.
